9 East Street
The Trust has been leasing 9 East Street since January 2009 and thanks must be made to the owner Beard Construction for their support and understanding.
The premises are ideally located in the Railway Village near to other voluntary organisations, and visually recognisable. The Grade 2 listed building has heritage and iconic value as the earliest built of a wide range of local co-operative premises, mostly now demolished. The building, although set up for use as modern offices now, was originally the home of The New Swindon Improvement Company – the holding company that built the Mechanics’ Institution in 1854.
We have been using the building to house our work and act as a “hub” for local community-led activity but also hosting several other organisations including Swindon Civic Trust and Swindon Federation of Community Organisations.
Please feel free to come and visit us.
We also have meeting rooms available to rent.
